Moulded crank mechanisms with capacitive bearing interface - obtd. using differential thermal expansion to create working clearance

A complex mechanism such as a crankshaft involving two components which are inseparable but capable of independent movement is made by prefabricating one component to be used as an insert in a mould cavity for producing the second component, so that differential thermal expansion results in subsequent parting of the surfaces requiring relative freedom of movement. Used for mfr. of a connecting rod contg. one or two individual captive rings to serve as bearing surfaces and/or a pair of concentric rings. Adaptable to couplings involving plain bearings, ball race bearings or needle bearings.
