PURPOSE:To attain ease of circuit integration and also ease of control from a control signal generator by using a digital signal having a short data word length as a control signal applied to a frequency characteristic variable control circuit. CONSTITUTION:The frequency characteristic is controlled automatically to a desired frequency characteristic by constituting the circuit that the control signal generator 9 generates sequentially a digital control signal controlling sequentially the level to a desired level depending on nearly 14 sets of divided frequency bands. An interface circuit with ICs forming the frequency characteristic variable control circuit 1 is constituted as a simple circuit and circuit integration is attained easily by decreasing the data word length of the digital control signal for this frequency control by nearly 8-bit. Further, after one divided frequency band is designated by the 1st control signal, the 2nd control signal having a different content is generated sequentially and the control of the frequency characteristic by the device 9 is attained easily without the need for the generation of a divided frequency band designation digital data at each change in the level increase/decrease amount.
