PURPOSE:To separate carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide from waste gas by using an adsorbent consisting of mordenite type zeolite that adsorbs selectively carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide from the waste gas. CONSTITUTION:Adsorption columns A, B are evacuated with a vacuum pump, and a gaseous raw material is fed into the column A by opening a valve 1 in a pressure increasing stage from the vacuum state. The raw material supply valve 1 and an outlet valve 3 are closed, and a valve 5 is opened to reduce the pressure in the column A down to the atm. pressure upon ending of the adsorption stage. Valves 7 and 3 are opened in the purging stage for the hardly adsorbable components in the gaps in the column A is started under the pressure of the gaseous product kept at the atm. pressure or slightly higher than the same in order to expell the gap gas in the column A by the gaseous product when the pressure in the column A restores the atm. pressure. A valve 9 is opened and the valves 7, 3 are closed. The inside of the column is evacuated in order to adsorb the easily adsorbable components, whereby CO is recovered.
