SIGNAL TRANSMISSION SYSTEM IN TELEVISION BROADCAST

PURPOSE:To realize a digital scrambling system not incurring the increase in a terminal cost and not giving hindrance to the development of future function by transmitting data while being superimposed on a horizontal signal. CONSTITUTION:The horizontal synchronism is disturbed and scrambling effect is given by compressing or non-compressing a signal of each horizontal blanking period in a video signal according to a scramble pattern. In this case, specific line numbers (e.g., 23-30) are set as a data area in the video signal by the encoder side, and the scramble pattern information is transmitted by compressing or non-compressing the horizontal blanking period in the area. At the decoder side, the compression or non-compression of the horizontal blanking period in the specific line number are read and the scramble pattern information is obtained. The scrambled video signal is descrambled by non-compressing or compressing each horizontal blanking period of the video signal based on the pattern information.
