The process is for producing spin rotation oscillation of particles which can be magnetically orientated, e.g. electrons or protons. The particles are caused to move to and fro in a non-homogeneous magnetic field between a region with relatively low strength and a region of high field strength. The majority of the particles have their spin rotation axes orientated such that the sense of the associated magnetic field is the same as thet of the inhomogeneous field. - The field may be produced by a permanent magnet or an electromagnet connected to a d.c. source. The particles may be moved by an alternating electric field between two electrodes connected to an a.c. source and may be electrons generated by a photo-electrode, by thermal emission in a vacuum tube, or from a transparent solid (magnetic garnet) via a magneto-strictive or piezo-electric oscillator.(0/2)
