DISPLACEMENT ERROR CORRECTION IN SORTING SYSTEMS

A B S T R A C TIn radiometric sorting a method of compensating for the countrecorded by a detector for an ore particle which is displaced fromthe centre line of the detector. The compensation is effected byapplying one of a plurality of calibration factors to the detectorcount. The calibration factors are statistically determined andare dependent on the measured displacement and optionally on atleast one of the shape, height, volume or mass of the particle.
