PURPOSE:To improve separability of filth from sewage by supplying the sewage together with water contg. foam into a pressure floatation and settling tank for sewage consisting of four concentrical cylindrical bodies, thereby separating the filth and removing the remaining filth with a filter tank. CONSTITUTION:Sewage contg. flocculated filth of oils, etc. is introduced through an inlet 11 into the 1st cylinder 10 of the treating tank; at the same time, water contg. foam is fed therein through an introducing pipe 50. The foam sticks on the filth and increases the buoyancy thereof. The filth is accumulated in a filth delivery pipe 60 in the upper part and is then discharged. The remaining water flows down through the 2nd cylinder 20 from above, and the remaining heavier filth settles in a settling chamber 30a. The water passes further through the 3rd cylinder 30 from bottom to top and enters the 4th cylinder 40, where the water passes through filter layers 40a and is thereby purified. The purified water is removed as clean water through a water collecting pipe 80. There is virtually no water to be carried by the removed filth and the filth is removed with a high degree of removal.
