Pure single factors 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, the method of manufacture of azithromycin Thai a_2

Essentially pure antibiotic cpds. and their salts derived from Teichomycin A2 and designated Factors 1-5 are new. Detailed descriptions of their properties are provided. The single factors are more effective antibiotics than the complex Teichomycin-A2. Teichomycin-A2 is obtd. by cultivation of Actinoplanes Teichomyceticus nov. sp. ATCC 31121 in a culture medium contg. assimilable sources of C, N and inorganic salts. This complex can be sepd. into various factors 1-5 by reverse phase HPLC or by ion exchange chromatography.
