A tapering bottom is incorporated in a container, esp. a septic tank for sewage treatment plant. It is a prefabricated structure, made up from inward-curved shell elements (4) with interconnecting peripheral ribs (6) in the area of their abutting joints (5). They are clamped together by encompassing draw rings (7). The shell elements forming the tanks bottom (2) are supported on a base (8). They are pref. narrow rhomboid units, offset to interlock with vertical orientation of their longitudinal axes and they may be simply or doubly curved.
