The apparatus for the preparation of simultaneously purified and worked up heavy oils which are stable over a long period and with an asphalt or bitumen content, also in the form of heavy oil/water or seawater emulsions or suspensions, consists of a pump (220) which is operated by a three-phase motor (250) at constant speeds and whose pressure port (222) is connected to a dispersing means (30) which consists of a housing (33) having a fixed, conical outer ring (34) provided with a tooth system, and having a conical rotating element (35) which rotates in the outer ring (34) and is provided with a tooth system corresponding to the tooth system of the outer ring (34), an annular grinding gap (36) which becomes smaller in the direction of flow towards the outlet cross-section as a result of the conicity of the outer ring (34) and of the rotating element (35), which grinding gap is bordered by the cavern-like indentations (134, 135) formed in the opposite wall surfaces (34a, 35a) of the outer ring (34) and of the rotating element (35) by the tooth systems and downstream of which is a filter (130) (Fig. 1).
