Automatic production machine for the cylindrical grinding of workpieces, in particular profiled workpieces, by plunge cutting

For improved utilisation of grinding operations in the production-stage cylindrical grinding of profiled workpieces, a workpiece cylinder with two or more work-holding stations is used which conveys the workpieces on their circular path from the loading zone into one or more grinding zones. The novel configuration of the work-holding stations permits the optimum production of geometric concentricity on the ground workpiece with the minimum amount of time. The ground profile of the workpieces can be produced between centres, in a centreless manner in a prismatic roller-way, or in a centreless manner in a prismatic shoe, and in fact by minimum plunge-cut movements of the grinding wheels perpendicularly to the workpiece axis or at an angle from the same or different directions.
