A multi-function electrical switch for controlling the external lighting on a motor vehicle, comprises a control lever 50 having a drive cam shaft 7 rotationally coupled thereto and a driven cam shaft 8 rotationally coupled to shaft 7 by a lost motion device allowing limited relative rotation of shafts 7 and 8. Shafts 7 and 8 include cams whereby rotation of the lever about its longitudinal axis closes electrical contacts to operate lights, and also further cams to operate additional lights upon pivoting of the control level. The pivoting causes rotation of shaft 8 relative to shaft 7 to operate the additional light via contacts, and a further cam is provided to cause reverse turning of the shaft 8 relative to shaft 7 when the level is returned from a third to a second angular position. In one angular position of the lever 50, contacts are opened and closed by successive pivoting movements of the lever 50. The lever 50 also operates direction indicators and is rectilinearly movable to actuate switch contacts for operating a horn. IMAGE
