Laterite or similar quarry earth is ground to a powder with characteristic granulometry, contg. very little water. This is mixed with cement or lime mortar and a hydrating and plasticising co-adjuvant, and the powder de-gassed by pre-compression and hyper compression. Oxides of iron, copper or titanium in amt. of 3-5 wt.% are used for colouring.
