METHOD FOR AGGLOMERATION OF COAL PARTICLES AND SIMULTANEOUS ASH REMOVAL THEREFROM

ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREAn improvement in a method for agglomeratingcoal particles and removing ashes therefrom at the sametime by agitating a mixture of a slurry of fine coalparticles and water with a binder is disclosed. Theimprovement comprises agitating the mixture at a highspeed to form coal agglomerates of small size, andthen agitating the mixture at a low speed to make thecoal agglomerates larger. According to the method,the binder adequately adheres to the fine coal particlesby the first agitation at the high speed and at thesame time ashes are separated from the fine coalparticles while preventing the fine coal particlesfrom growing to larger coal agglomerates, and thenthe particle size of the coal agglomerated is rapidlymade large by the second agitation at the low speedthrough the mutual binding of the fine coal particles,whereby easily recoverable coal agglomerated of largesize with high ash removal are obtained.
