A system for locating information fields on a display and for generating field descriptors with information related to each of the display fields

This is a method and system for controlling the creation and modification of displayed information fields. A store is used to retain descriptors related to one or more information fields. The field descriptors are used to identify and establish selected parameters of the information fields on the display. By using the field descriptors, the form and appearance of data in any information field may be pre-established and used to prevent entry of non-acceptable data in the display.
