Chipboards and similar are produced from lignocellulosic/ cellulosic particles plus at least one binder by pressing lengths of material. A thickness gauge has a number of measuring heads, it checks continuously the board thickness, and the press has a correcting point corresponding to each measuring head. The system picks up thickness variations and has a simple inexpensive means of correcting them, it minimises sanding operations.
