A number of sensors on the vehicle are coupled to a central electronic unit. These include atmospheric pressure and temp. sensors as well as fuel density and temp. sensors and a hygrometer. The engine speed is measured and a differential angular accelerometer is calibrated to indicate power at the wheel from gearbox measurements. The fuel consumption of the engine is measured by two volumetric counters which provides instantaneous calculations of fuel used from fuel supplied and returned to the fuel tank. The central unit memorises the iso-consumption curve for the particular vehicle and a display, connected to the unit, is located on the dashboard. A series of neon indicators in red, orange and green provide fuel consumption indications.
