The invention relates to a device whose purpose is to contain, in perfect safety, poisoned bait intended to kill muskrats (Ondatra zibethicus) efficiently and without the risk of poisoning other animal species or of pollution. The device comprises a lid 1 which is closed with a padlock to seal the compartment containing the bait. The opening is on the underside. The applications of the invention include protection of river banks undermined by tunnels, cultivated land devastated in vegetable-growing areas by drainage, the protection of game having to compete with or threatened by the proliferation of these rodents and the protection of freshwater fish and of their breeding grounds.
