ANTIBIOTIC TAN-585A AND TAN-585B, PREPARATION THEREOF AND NEW SPECIES OF GENUS FLEXIBACTER

PURPOSE:To prepare a novel and useful antibiotic, by cultivating a microorganism of the genus Flexibacter, and collecting the aimed antibiotic exhibiting an antimicrobial activity against Gram-negative bacteria. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism, e.g. Flexibacter alginoliquefaciens YK-49 strain, belonging to the genus Flexibacter, and capable of producing antibiotic TAN-585A and TAN-585B is cultivated in a culture medium to produce and accumulate the aimed antibiotic TAN-585A and (or) TAN-585B in the culture. The resultant antibiotic is then collected. Flexibacter alginoliquefaciens is of the undecomposing type in the oxidative fermentative test and has the ability to decompose alginic acid.
