Naturally occuring grains of starch or fine flour are ground to 1-500 microns and are then hydrolysed in a water suspension of 20-70 w/w% of dried matter. The suspension is treated with a chemical to produce DE2-60 dextrose units of following molecular distribution: (%) DP1-2=0.5-60, DP2-15=5-80, DP16-45=5-25 and DP45=10-80.
