The proportions of hot and cold water are determined by two plates of hard material (5, 6), one of which can slide over the other. An auxiliary control device in series with the plates is ineffective for the fastest flows of mixed water, but starts, to restrict the flow, without stopping the flow altogether, when it approaches an intermediate control position.
