Amplification and locking of chucking power in a drill chuck in which the drill is chucked by rotating the chuck body relative to the mounting nut by virtue of the fact that a sliding sleeve with internal tooth system is mounted in a rotationally locked but axially displaceable manner on the mounting nut of the drill chuck and, with its tooth system, can be engaged with or disengaged from a corresponding external helical tooth system on the chuck body when required by forward and return movement, in the course of which, on account of the toothing shape, a rotary movement of the chuck body relative to the mounting nut in the direction of amplification of the chucking power is effected during the forward movement and locking of the drill chuck is effected upon blocking.
