The invention relates to a household utensil permitting shell removal on hardboiled eggs, and even from soft-boiled eggs. It consists of a tube 1 which can be adapted to the swan necks of domestic water taps, of a striker 7 and of oriented jet orifices 8, as well as of a housing 9 preventing water splashes. When the user puts the egg into the apparatus, preferably with the thick end comprising the air chamber towards the top, he pierces the shell with the striker/jet assembly 6 and the water coming out under pressure through the oriented jets 8 infiltrates between the egg itself and the shell, which causes the latter to split up as soon as the pressure equilibrium is disrupted. The device according to the invention is more particularly intended for shell removal on hardboiled or soft-boiled eggs and may take on the form of various embodiments which can be adapted to the eggs whose shell has to be removed.
