ECONOMICAL PRODUCTION OF NI COATED STAINLESS STEEL STRIP HAVING SUPERIOR WORKABILITY

PURPOSE:To economically produce an Ni coated stainless steel strip having superior workability by subjecting a stainless steel strip to required pre treatment, continuous mat Ni electroplating and buffing. CONSTITUTION:A ferritic or austenitic stainless steel strip is pretreated by degreasing, pickling and Ni striking to improve the adhesion to plating. The pretreated strip is subjected to mat Ni electroplating in a conventional plating bath such as a Watts bath or a sulfamate bath. The plates strip is then buffed with several rotary buffing devices at about 2,000-2,500m/min peripheral speed to make the Ni plated surface lustrous. Thus, an Ni coated stainless steel strip having superior workability, high reflectance and fine luster is obtd.
