NEW MATERIAL:A cyclic dienone of formula I. USE:Medicine. It has antitumor effect and can be used as an intermediate to produce known antitumor agents as well. PREPARATION:The reduction of N'-benzyloxycarbonyl-3',5'-dibromo-L-tyrosyl-3,5- dibromo-L-tyrosi ne methyl ester of formula II (Z is C6H5CH2OCO-) is carried out with tallium (III) nitrate in a mixed solvent of methanol and dimethylformamide to give the compound of formula I.
