Ascorbates of formula (I) are new; where x = 1, 2 or 3; y = 1 or 2; R1 = R2 = H, or R1 = OH and R2 = H, and the ascorbate component may be in the form of an O-alkylidene; 5,6-diocyl; 6;acyl (contg. 2-16C) or 6-phosphate deriv.; R3 = organic base contg. 1 or more basic functional gps. (which are potentially nitrosable) and having H2-receptor antagonising activity.
