Recovery of at least part of the energy available in the gas flows drawn off from two regenerators 4 and 21 of a catalyst in a fluid bed catalytic cracking unit. According to the invention the flue gases from the regenerators 4 are conveyed into one of the stages of a turbine 35, the pressure in this stage being lower than the pressure of the regenerator flue gases 4, whereas the flue gases from the regenerator 21 (whose pressure is lower than that of the first regenerator 4) are conveyed into another stage of the same turbine 35, a stage in which the pressure is lower than that of the stage into which the flue gases from the regenerator 4 are conveyed.
