PURPOSE:To enhance detection sensitivity and reproducibility by preventing the volatilization of tin at the time of ashing, by adding 0.5-5% of a metal compound forming a complex compound along with a tin oxy-salt ion to a specimen before performing ashing. CONSTITUTION:0.5-5% of an aluminum hydroxide solution is added to a specimen containing tin and, when a current is supplied to the electrodes 2, 3 of an atomic absorptiometry apparatus to raise the temp. thereof to 1,200 deg.C, the tin oxyacid ion in the specimen is separated from aluminum hydroxide to be reacted with aluminum to form aluminum tin oxyacid being a complex compound. Since this compound is stable at 1,200 deg.C being ashing temp., the volatilization of tin in an ashing process can be prevented. Subsequently, a current is increased and temp. is raised to 2,600 deg.C to measure the atomic absorbency of tin. Therefore, the volatilization of tin is prevented at the time of ashing and the enhancement of detection sensitivity and reproducibility can be achieved.
