INVESTIGATING METHOD FOR CORROSION STATE OF REINFORCING IRON BAR IN REINFORCED CONCRETE

PURPOSE:To easily, securely, and speedily investigate the corrosion state of reinforcing iron bars by connecting an ammeter between a reference electrode and a reinforcing bar, wetting the surface of concrete at a place to be investigated with an conductive solution to form a battery so that the natural electrode potential of the reinforcing bar and the reference electrode are connected in series, and measuring its current quantity. CONSTITUTION:A part of the concrete 4 of a building is cut to expose a part of a longitudinal reinforcing bar 5. Then, its exposed part is clamped with a clip 8 at the end a lead wire 7 connected to the negative terminal of an ammeter 2 and a reference electrode 1 is connected to the other positive terminal. Then the sponge 12 is soaked with tap water etc. and is applied gently to the concrete surface to be investigated and held for 10-20sec. Thus, the corrosion state of reinforcing bars is known from the displayed current value on the ammeter or the lighting of either one of lamps 3, 3a, and 3b.
