Extracts of animal organs of pharmaceutical and cosmetic application are prepd from cleaned, fresh or dried comminuted viscere. The extn. is carried out at pH 2-9 and 0-80 deg.C. The extracting solvent mix comprises water and organic solvent(s) contg. hydroxy gp(s). The extract is filtered, opt. condensed, sterilised by addn. of phenol or cresol or by sterile filtration.
