PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR MONITORING WEATHER PHENOMENA

ABSTRACTA process and apparatus for the day-or-night monitoring ofweather phenomena by means of the analysis of the movements of airmasses, wherein the movements are determined by monitoring andreceiving the multi-band VLF electromagnetic radiation generated in theatmosphere with directionally selective receivers. The receivedfrequencies are then compared with values which have been correlatedwith atmospheric events. Means are provided for displaying thepredictive results for events occurring up to 500 km away from the VLFreceivers - typically updatable within seconds - in at least two stagesaccording to the (near or far) range desired or the type of electricalpolarization.
