The binding (4) between the boot (3) and force or torque applicators is based on a riser (5) and a longitudinal bar (17) which are joined together by a rod (20) perpendicular to the longitudinal median plane of the appts. The rod engages in the two side walls of a U-section (18) integral with the base of the riser. Rollers (21,24) are mounted at the ends of the bar which incorporates a telescopic element (23) engaging in a sleeve (22). The upper wall of the U acts as a stop, bearing upon the topmost generator line of the sleeve (22) to hold the riser (5) and bar (17) together while a forward fall is simulated. ADVANTAGE - Improved construction makes appts. easier to use and increases reliability of disconnection measures.
