The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for drying excrement, in particular chicken excrement, the excrement being reduced between two conveying rolls to a layer of excrement fractions of a millimetre thick, this layer of excrement located on the conveying rolls then being removed by a centrifuging device and, dispersed to an even greater extent, is passed to a drying device, for example a drying belt, the layer thickness on this drying belt being only about 2/10 mm. Then, on this drying device, the air has the effect of drying off the excrement and the excrement thus dried is subsequently collected.
