Mounted at intervals along the outside of each side of the bath are aerating and pumping units. On the inside of the bath wall (4) cover plates (5) have pump inlet (6) and outlet (7) apertures. Small lamps (9) may be fitted inside the cover plates. Water is drawn into the pump body by a paddle wheel rotor (18), mounted on the shaft (17) of motor. The motor has a rotor with permanent magnets (23) and a wound stator (22). The pumped water passes over the outlet nozzle (14) of an air inlet pipe (12), drawing bubbles of air past a non-return flap valve (15). The resultant stream of water and bubbles is then ejected into the bath by a downward pointing cowl (7). If required, scented liquids or other bath additives may be injected into the pump body via a separate pipe (50).
