The moulding machine is for producing articles from discrete plate blanks or from a continuous web of sheet material. It has a carrier to carry the web, a loading station adopted to load such plate blanks, and a moulding station downstream of the carrier and the loading station. A conveyor is provided to convey plate blanks or the web between the loading station and the moulding station. Guides are disposed in the region of the loading station and are pivotable between a first position, in which they bear against such a plate blank or such web, and a second position, in which they do not obstruct vertical motion of the plate blanks.
