This invention is in the area of fitting out and finishing of buildings and its subject is a device to support false floors allowing easy height adjustment which avoids particularly taking up the floor slats to adjust them and which is of a particularly advantageous price both in manufacture and in implementation. It essentially comprises three parts, the first known as the upper half-leg 5 comprises a plate 8 and a first threaded rod 9 integral with the plate at least in axial movement, the second part known as the intermediate tubular part 6 is internally threaded at each of its end parts 14, 15, the internal thread pitch of one of the parts being in a first direction while that of the other part is in the opposite direction, the third part known as the lower half-leg 7 comprises a sole plate and a second threaded rod 12, the thread pitch of the second being opposite to the pitch of the first, the second being integral, at least in axial movement, with the said sole plate.
