The subject of the invention is a curler for producing permanent corrugations comprising an elongated tubular support 1 limiting an axial duct in which a removable cartridge 2 is threaded in the form of a cylindrical tube closed in leaktight manner and containing a product capable of accumulating calories by preheating. The removable cartridge 2 is heated separately and then introduced into the support 1 after winding the hair. The support 1 is advantageously associated with a shell-shaped sleeve 3 capable of covering the coiled wick 4 to center the heat released by the cartridge 2.
