PURPOSE:To produce carbon 13 isotope at a low cost by irradiating a laser to a raw material of a fluorocarbon gas which is mixed with an alkene hydrocar bon and using an isotope shift of photoabsorptive properties of the raw material gas to dissociate the raw gas. CONSTITUTION:A fluorocarbon gas which produces difluorocarbene (CF2) is used as a raw material and an alkene hydrocarbon is added to said raw mate rial. Laser light is irradiated to the alkene hydrocarbon-mixed raw material gas and the raw material gas is dissociated based on isotope shift of photoabsorptive properties of the raw material gas and carbon 13 isotope is separated and concentrated. The raw material fluorocarbon which produces difluorocarbene is preferably CHClF2, CHIF2, or CHBrF2. As a halohydrocarbon, halomethane is preferable.
