PURPOSE:To prevent the withering of petals and leaves of cut flowers after harvest, to keep the color of flowers and leaves over a long period and to preserve various kinds of cut flowers in fresh state over a long period, by contacting water with a mineral having a specific natural remanent magnetism and putting cut flowers in the water. CONSTITUTION:Water is made to contact with a mineral having a natural remanent magnetism of 10-4-10-13T (Sl customary magnetic strength unit), e.g. clay or mineral composed mainly of SiO2 and Al2O3 and collected near Kitagata Street, Higashi-Usuki District or Hinokage Street, Nishi-Usuki District, Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan and cut flowers are put into the water. As an alternative method, water is poured into a vase containing fine powder of the above mineral and cut flowers are put into the vase. Various kinds of cut flowers can be stably preserved in fresh state over a long period after harvest. The blooming of buds proceeds smoothly by this process and excellent life-prolonging effect can be attained. The amount of the mineral is preferably about 0.5-1.0g per 100ml of water.
