ABSTRACTThe para-isomer of a dialkyl-aromatic hydrocarbonis separated from a mixture with at least one other isomer ofthe hydrocarbon by contacting the mixture with a crystallinealuminosilicate adsorbent containing barium and potassiumions at exchangeable cation sites in a mole ratiocorresponding to a BaO to K20 ratio of 0.6:1 to 1.2:1 atadsorption conditions selected to effect adsorption of saidpara-isomer and thereafter contacting the para-isomercontaining adsorbent with a desorbent material selected frommonofluroaromatics, difluoroaromatics or mixtures thereof atdesorption conditions selected to effect recovery of saidpara-isomers.
