The main patent relates to devices which automatically adjust the length of the sheath 6 in remote-control mechanisms, especially in clutch-control mechanisms in motor vehicles, and it consists basically of the provision of an auxiliary cable 14 which is totally independent of the controlled cable 5, which moves along a sheath 15 which is also independent and which acts on the device which locks the two portions 6a-6b of the sheath of the main cable, releasing them, and in accordance with the present improvements the auxiliary cable 14 is actuated in one direction by a stop 16 braced on the main cable 5 and immobilized thereon by means of friction.
