The present invention relates to new N-monoalkyl and N-dialkyl derivatives of teicoplanin carrying functional groups on the alkyl chain.;The compounds of the invention can be prepared according to a variety of alkylation of a teicoplanin substrate such as an alkylation with an alkyl halide in the presence of a base or a reductive alkylation with a carbonyl compound in the presence of an alkali metal borohydride.;The compounds show good antibacterial activity mainly against gram-positive bacteria.
