Method for protecting and reinforcing an existing assembly of a lock or security bolt (5), comprising a lock, or a bolt, of the type mounted set back with respect to the edge (2) of the door (1), and its associated striking plate (7), in which the plate (8) of the striking plate (7) comprises retention means (15) suitable for penetrating into corresponding recesses formed in the door frame, characterised in that, on the one hand, a freely rotatable protection member (13) is interposed between the door (1) and the case of the lock or bolt (5) in the vulnerable region of its mechanism, and on the other hand, a support block (14) for the bolt is interposed between the bolt (10) and the door, the support block covering the portion of the surface of the bolt between its edge and the said case and in that a substantial reinforcement situated in the reflex angle formed between the plate and its body is formed on the striking plate between the fixing screws.
