Process and apparatus for removing toxic heavy metals from refuse tips, sewage sludge and soils

By relatively long trickle irrigation of refuse landfills, sewage sludges and soils with acids, the heavy metal ions are displaced by hydrogen ions from their mineral bonds and pass into solution which sinks downwards in the bulk and is taken off by suitable drainage pipes and recycled.
