Process for clarifying waste water by a pptn. reaction comprises mixing the waste water with lime in an amt. of at least 0.1 kg/m3 waste water, allowing a reaction time of at least 0.1 and then adding water contg. organic material esp. a faecal waste water, to cause flock formation and pptn. of the content substances of the waste water. USE/ADVANTAGE - Process gives good clarification of waste water contg. inorganic salts, (in)organic phosphates, dyes, heavy metals, and organic materials, e.g. agricultural and domestic sewage water, effluents, from the paper, food, brewing, and petrochemical industries. etc.
