Centrifugal fan and blower unit for handling grain - has separate drives allowing correct matching of fan and blower characteristics

In the bulk handling of material such as grain, material is drawn from the silo as an air-material mixture and separation takes place in a combination of centrifugal fan and blower. Usually the centrifugal fan and blower are mounted on the same shaft and are driven at the same speed. However the air flow released by the centrifugal fan is ill-matched to the inlet condition at the blower, which ideally should be driven at a higher speed. One of several designs to improve the match between centrifugal fan and blower has an additional motor (41) driving the blower (4'). Co-axial with the blower is the centrifugal fan (2') driven by the motor (1'). ADVANTAGE - Unit is more efficient and can be fitted into a more compact design.
