The heald, to develop a leno selvedge, has an outer shield, near the guide opening to reduce wear through the twisting yarn. A shield is on both sides of the heald, extending from one leg of the heald to the other leg, to range as far as the guide opening. The shield is fitted to the heald by a release mounting. The shield has a chamfering, at least at an upper end, angled away from the twisting yarn. ADVANTAGE - The construction increases the working life of the plastics heald. (3pp Dwg.No.0/2)
