PURPOSE:To make highly sensitive a reagent for the estimation of hydrogen peroxide by using a specific imidazole derivative. CONSTITUTION:An imidazole derivative expressed by the formula is used for the reagent for the analysis of hydrogen peroxide. Using such a reagent, hydrogen peroxide and the imidazole derivative expressed by the formula are made to react with each other, and thereby dyestuff of 1mol is produced with hydrogen peroxide of 1mol. The analysis is performed by detecting the dyestuff thus produced. This reagent is made applicable in a wider sphere, as a reagent for estimation, by combining the imidazole derivative expressed by the formula with peroxidase and further with oxidase. In other words, in the case when a material to be quantified finally produces hydrogen peroxide under the effect of oxidase, the combination of oxidase with a reagent system of the present invention enables the estimation of various subject materials through the estimation of the hydrogen peroxide thus produced. In the formula, R1 denotes an aryl in which an ortho-position or a para-position is substituted by a hydroxyl- radical, R2 an aryl or a substituted aryl, and R3 an alkyl, a substituted alkyl or an alkenyl.
