PURPOSE:To quantitatively and correctly measure the mechanical nature of a living body organization by deriving an approximate expression for showing a relation of stress and displacement, based on the stress and the displacement detected by a data detector, and generating necessary data by referring to the approximate expression. CONSTITUTION:First of all, by gripping a case 11 of a data detector 1, the measuring surface 13b of an abutting member 13 is allowed to abut on the surface of a living body organization 16 to be measured, to a state that the abutting member is roughly orthogonal to the surface of the living body organization, so that the case is brought close to the surface side of the living body organization. In this case, a load converter 12 outputs a stress signal which the measuring surface receives from the living body organization, and a displacement converter 15 outputs a displacement signal for showing the displacement of the measuring surface. As for these signals, the stress signal and the displacement signal amplified by an amplifier 2 are brought to digital conversion by an A/D converter 3, and thereafter, held in a data holding part 4. Subsequently, by operating a data processing part 5, an approximate expression is derived, based on holding data, and by generating necessary data by referring to the expression, the mechanical nature of the living body organization is quantized simply and exactly.
