ABSTRACTGASTRO-JEJUNAL FEEDING DEVICEA device is disclosed for supplying food andmedication to a patient, the device being insertedthrough a stoma and into the patient's stomach forfeeding into the stomach and/or the jejunum. Thedevice may also be used to feed directly into thejejunum by by-passing the stomach, or for drainageand/or decompression.The device is secured in place by an inflatableballoon (32) within the stomach, or by a plate if thestomach is by-passed, and by an adjustable ring (43) onthe abdominal wall. The adjustable ring also preventsingestion of the device into the stomach. During use,the ring can be retracted to permit cleaning of thestoma area. The ring can be perforated (42) and ribbed(41) to provide improved ventilation of the stoma areaduring use.The device can be employed with conventionalsurgically formed procedures, and is replaceable.Servicing of the device can be made at home, ratherthan at a hospital.
